Hi there, I’m Mia!
(She/Her)
You can definitely find info on my education, therapeutic approach, etc. on this website.
And
I also think it’s important to share a bit about me personally!
I am…
a queer, white, cis-woman. I'm also a first-generation, low-income (FGLI) college graduate. These aspects of my identity (and more) shape my privilege, experiences, and perspective.
from North Carolina - born, bred, and fed. I love the diverse people(s) in my home state, and carry their spirit of community care/mutual aid, resistance, and resilience in the face of hardship with me everywhere I go.
married and a parent to two sweet, adorable cats (I will happily show pictures of them upon request)!
also in my own therapy - therapists should have therapists. We don’t have to hold it all alone y’all.
My Values
-
No one else has lived your life. I trust you, your judgment, and your ability to make decisions for yourself.
I’m here to walk alongside you, wherever you are on your journey.
-
Trans rights are human rights.
No human is illegal.
Everyone deserves to live and thrive as their whole self.
-
Everything is affected by political decisions, and that includes mental health care.
Therapy is deeply personal. There is no separating our lived experiences from the impacts of systems of power and oppression. To ignore, or not consider this, in therapy leads to harm.
You deserve to feel seen and safe. You can always ask where I stand on issues affecting you, your loved ones, and your community.
-
Who dictates what is “normal?” Societal majorities and those in power have long relied on norms as a tool of oppression and repression against resistance and liberation.
-
And when given greater access to support and opportunity, we improve for our lives and our communities.
-
In order for change and healing to take place, we must first establish relational safety together so that you’re able to show up fully in a space where trust has been earned. That’s where we start, and we proceed from there at your pace.
